Work on the edit continues to move forward. Breaking up the scenes into their own folders have helped out a lot, no longer does the project seem so daunting. As it sits Delany and I are planning to have a tentative rough cut by next week and then really sit down and look at each other’s work and find the best stuff from each and combine them. We are working well together and we keep improving our plan to maximize our efficiency with assigning specific scenes to each of us. I feel confident that we will be able to finish this project a little ahead of schedule and then move on to the distribution plan. Looking at what we have done so far we are still going to need to put in a good amount of work doing color correction and sound mixing. Delany is considering doing some small re-shoots to improve the film but nothing major at all. Based off of the general tone and theme of the film I don’t foresee there being much or any color grading in the final project, possibly  in the flash back and the second classroom scene but a lot of that was pre-planned and shot with that in mind already.

Moving Forward

Delaney and I continue working forward on her film, we are making good progress but did slow down a bit after finishing the five-minute cut. We have now redoubled our efforts and have devised a new method (thanks to your excellent suggestions this evening).  So now we are breaking down every separate scene into new sequences and working on them that way. After sharing the new project file now we plan to meet together and work on different sequences and get feedback from each other. I feel our editing styles are similar but different enough that we compliment each other and make a very good editing team. As far as color correction goes it looks like we need to add more blue to kill the tungsten look and working on lighting up the night time scene. We seem to have a pretty good grasp on the project and I am pleased about how things are going so far. Delaney is a excellent person to work with, she works hard and is still laid back and an enjoyable person to be around. I feel we are both putting good effort towards this project and I am excited to see how good it looks when it is finally completed!
